Meet Ben Meek, Design Manager
After leaving school, Ben attended Cardiff University where he achieved a BSC (Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics. It was while he was at university that his relationship with Group SCS began. He worked for Group SCS during the summer holidays, helping the site engineers on installation and service jobs. After university, in 2005, he joined Group SCS permanently as a Graduate Project Engineer.
Ben has had various roles at Group SCS including Project Engineer, Project Manager, Regional Manager and Contracts Manager/Principal Designer. He is currently Design Manager at the Cardiff office and is responsible for estimating, designing and project managing a wide range of residential and commercial installation projects within the BEMS, Fire and Security and Ventilation industries.
He said: “I really enjoy design work and the challenge of implementing Building Regulation requirements into challenging building layouts and providing engineered solutions for our clients. I also like the sense of achievement of delivering projects successfully, particularly carrying out smoke tests on large buildings – that can be fun!”
Away from work, Ben likes to keep fit and enjoys boxing and going to the gym. He’s also a football fan and is a Cardiff City FC season ticket holder. Ben also enjoys music, especially Caribbean, and is an amateur DJ and musician. He’s also a bit of a history buff and enjoys reading historical fiction novels.
