Support and aftercare

Keep your controls software up to date and your smoke, BMS or natural ventilation system properly maintained with our help.
The importance of Support and aftercare

Smoke control systems are critical to ensuring the safety of individuals in the event of a fire. They are designed to both maintain clear escape routes for people in the building and protect firefighters entering the building. As with all mechanical and electrical services within buildings, the system is only effective if it is adequately maintained and kept in good working order.

Correct aftercare and maintenance are essential to ensuring the optimal performance of your smoke control, BMS or building automation system. Group SCS’s Support and aftercare division is a trusted partner with years of experience, who can guarantee the safety and compliance of your smoke control systems.

Regulation Compliance

During any smoke control, BMS or passive ventilation project, compliance is always a major concern. This is where we shine – British Standards, H&S, RRO and more – we ensure everything’s covered. In particular, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) dictates that a building’s “responsible person” (generally a building owner, manager or FM) has to ensure proper operational service and maintenance of smoke control systems.

This is achieved by regular testing, but should a fault occur between tests, it is important that it does not go unnoticed and that a regular weekly or monthly test is not overlooked due to the unavailability of personnel.

Our Eyeball remote monitoring solution can help ensure that your systems are working properly, and that you stay compliant.

Testing & Maintenance

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) states that a building’s “responsible person” (generally a building owner, manager or FM) must ensure proper operational service and maintenance of smoke control systems.

Service issues

To ensure the correct ongoing operation of our life safety, energy management and building automation systems, we offer technical support, software updates and spare parts exclusively to our Support and aftercare service contract holders*.

*For issues arising in the first 12 months following commissioning, we will require the issuing of a PO before we are able to call out an engineer, in case issues are determined to have been caused by something other than defective parts or incorrect installation by Group SCS.
