Meet Christopher Jones, Managing Director
After leaving school, Christopher opted to do a Mechanical Services Engineering Apprenticeship at Crown House Engineering, Cardiff. This included completing BTEC National and Higher National Certificates in HVAC Engineering at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Following completion of his apprenticeship, he progressed to the role of Mechanical Engineer working within Crown House Engineering in Cardiff and Swansea. He worked in several departments including design, estimating and project management.
In September 2000 Christopher began working at Group SCS (formerly known as Smoke Control Services) as a Project Engineer. He was responsible for overall delivery of a number of the company’s most prestigious projects. Over the years his roles have evolved taking him from Project Engineer and Project Manager to Senior Project Manager and Projects Director. As Projects Director Christopher was responsible for the successful project delivery of Group SCS’s Building Automation division, from initial enquiry stage through to commissioning, service and maintenance. Christopher became Managing Director in 2018 following a Senior Management restructure.
Christopher said: “I enjoy working on different construction projects within different sectors. I especially like being part of a team providing innovative solutions and forming strong relationships with customers which grow year on year.”
Christopher’s career progression has seen him successfully complete a number of courses over the years including the Strategic Profitable Growth Programme (delivered by Telos Partnership in conjunction with Cardiff Business School in 2007) and the 20Twenty Leadership Programme including a Post Graduate Certificate (Cardiff Metropolitan University, 2012).
In his spare time, Christopher likes to travel and enjoys visiting different parts of the world. At home, he is a talented DIY-er and enjoys taking on a variety of creative projects. He also likes keeping fit through boxing and swimming and regularly takes part in Parkruns. He has completed a number of races including the Cardiff World Half Marathon, Cardiff Bay Run, Newport Wales 10K and the Barry Island 10K.
