Mechanical Smoke Extract
Optional Daily Ventilation
The documents below have been developed to simplify the process of making correct provision for smoke control for the common areas of high-rise residential buildings at the planning stage. The SCS Group modular smoke shaft system caters for buildings of up to 20 storeys with a maximum escape travel distance of 30m per floor. The system is designed to remove risk and waste in the design, installation, and operation phases of projects through standardisation and off-site assembly.
This is based on extensive research, as well as data gathered from a large project base. In simple terms, the smoke extract system removes smoke from common lobbies through a rising shaft and brings fresh air into the building through a roof-mounted ventilator in the stairwell.
