The Project

The Client
Group SCS was contracted by Steane Ltd to design and install a system to control the heating and ventilation in the Foundation Building and main kitchen area.
The Solution
The solution included the supply and installation of sensors to monitor temperature including weather compensating controls in addition to the heating and ventilation systems.

Our Involvement

Group SCS project managed the installation of the integrated solution, offering a bespoke system capable of meeting the client’s needs whilst integrating the passive/smoke/BMS elements and saving on installation time and costs. The system designed, supplied and commissioned includes a 16 zone day to day ventilation system cooling the circulation corridors and the village area using a combination of temperature sensors, automatic opening windows and atrium ventilators along with BMS signalling and a fully addressable control system. As a value added inclusion the smoke ventilation requirements were added to the scope of works, incorporating further smoke shafts, head of stairwell ventilators and cross control of the automatic windows. The control system was manufactured at the Group SCS production facility in Bournemouth, whilst the project was designed, installed and project managed from the Group SCS Birmingham office.

Jason Smith, Projects Manager, Steane Ltd
“This was our first time working with Group SCS and we found the team to be very professional, proactive, supportive and knowledgeable in their specialised area of building energy management and window controls for both passive vent and smoke ventilation works. This meant we developed a trusting relationship and Group SCS have been instructed by us on further projects.”
