Project Background

60 Commercial Road, London, is an impressive student accommodation development located close to Brick Lane, Spitalfields Markets, shops, restaurants and bars. Now open and called ‘Pure Aldgate’, the modern residence, which lies close to Aldgate East underground station, offers a fantastic variety of stunning studios for students. Those who live at Pure Aldgate can even socialise, study and relax in the 19th floor Sky Lounge which boasts views of the London skyline.

In August 2014 Group SCS was commissioned by Essex Services Group to work on the BEMS (Building Energy Management System) and smoke extract system for the project.

Our Involvement

The BEMS controls and monitors the building’s heating, ventilation and hot water systems; it also integrates with the smoke ventilation systems and energy metering systems.

Our Solution

We were involved with the consultants at the early design stage for the smoke extract system and continued to develop the design throughout the project.
We designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned the BEMS and used two floor-standing Trend IQ3 BEMS control panels and one BEMS head end PC with full bespoke graphics package.
We also designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned the Smoke Control System using five smoke extract fan sets with environmental fans, five main control panels and a daily ventilation control for corridor cooling.
