BMS and smoke control at Bristol office development
Project title: One Redcliff Street
Client: Whitehead Building Services
Service: Smoke Control & BMS
Located in Bristol’s central business district, 1 Redcliff Street is a £15 million project being carried out by Main Contractor ISG for Aberdeen Asset Management. Located near Cabot Circus and Bristol Temple Meads railway station, this 14-storey 1960s building is currently being modernised and upgraded while the existing tenants remain in occupation. The building’s completion will see its net lettable space increasing by more than ten percent to 95,800 sq ft – including the construction of a new floor at roof level to create a suite of high-specification meeting rooms.

Group SCS’s work involves refurbishing equipment on each of the floors and replacing controls with new ones, while linking to the existing live BMS system. We completed our work in March 2018 and now there are controllers from two decades ago linking with the latest generation of Trend control system.
Our smoke control work involves a mechanically assisted smoke shaft system, using the latest products.
Mike Jackson, Regional Manager (Wales and West), said: “With it being a live occupied building it meant lots of planning was required to ensure all the existing services were still available to tenants.
