Project Background

Childs Hill School teaches 388 children. As part of a major capital investment programme a new Foundation Stage building and kitchen was constructed, along with a refurbishment of accommodation for Pathways and the Children’s Centre.The requirements of the control system were complex as it was controlling both new equipment in the new building and the existing plant in the old building. Scant data was available on the existing plant.

As part of a major capital investment programme a new Foundation Stage building and kitchen was constructed, along with a refurbishment of accommodation for Pathways and the Children’s Centre.

Our Involvement

Group SCS was contracted to design and install a system to control the heating and ventilation in the Foundation Building and main kitchen area. This included the supply and installation of sensors to monitor temperature including weather compensating controls.

Our Solution

The most challenging aspect of this project was designing a system using new equipment that would communicate equally well with both old and new heating and ventilation equipment.
In order to devise the most appropriate solution, we fully surveyed the existing system to gather the data required to design a robust control system able to work effectively with both.

Using data from this survey, we modified the existing control system to incorporate new Priva controllers. We then designed and programmed software for new control panels and installed them throughout the building.
