SCS Group was pleased to see a video uploaded recently of the new BBC Wales Broadcasting House construction site, in Cardiff, where we are carrying out smoke extract work.
The video (featured at the end of this story) was filmed by a team from Construction News on location at the site, which is being developed by Rightacres with ISG as Main Contractor.
Central Square development
The BBC Headquarters, designed by architect Foster and Partners, forms part of the new Central Square development being built in the centre of Cardiff.
We have been appointed by CMB Engineering to carry out work on the £120m BBC headquarters which is scheduled for completion in early 2019.
Smoke extract systems
We are working on three elements during the building’s construction: Firstly, the Atrium smoke extract system which is a mechanical smoke ventilation system; secondly, protection of two firefighting shafts; and thirdly, a smoke extract system for the car park/loading bay.
We started our work at the building in May 2017 and are due to complete in October 2017.
The four-storey BBC building is located opposite Cardiff Central Railway station and is 150,000 sq ft. It will include space for offices, studios and production, with office space for more than 1,200 BBC Wales employees.
