SCS Group is pleased to hear that its partner Trend is getting great feedback on a system installed at a theatre in London.
Our own engineers are well versed with using quality Trend products so it’s therefore no surprise to us to hear that a Trend Building Energy Management System (BEMS) at The Queen’s Theatre is making people’s lives easier.
A recent article in Building Services & Environmental Engineer (BSEE) – click here to read the story – explains that the 500-seat theatre, which opened in 1975, caters for more than 200,000 people every year and has benefited from the Trend BEMS for a number of years.
Plant linked to Trend BEMS
BSEE says that the site consists of three boilers, two air-handling units (AHUs) and two additional boilers that are dedicated to the radiator heating circuit. This plant is all linked to the BEMS, which enables staff, patrons and visitors to the Queen’s Theatre to enjoy the best possible comfort conditions.
Head of Facilities at the theatre, Terry Abbot, told BSEE that he’d worked closely with Trend to explore new and innovative ways to save money by improving the way that the building uses energy.
He said: “For a long time I was unable to see exactly what the BEMS was doing and relied solely upon Trend’s engineers to make adjustments when they visited the site.”
Now, by using a newly-installed touchscreen, he is able to review time schedules, make adjustments to setpoints and use plant in the most efficient ways possible.
He said: “This will save energy and money, enhance comfort conditions, and extend the lifetime of the plant. I wish I’d done it much sooner!”
