TOURISTS visiting the Pyramids in Giza would have had an unexpected sight recently, as the SCS Group logo appeared in front of the popular attraction.
Apprentice Project Engineer Muhammad Wahid, who is usually based in our London office, was taking some time out to visit his brother in Cairo and decided it was a great opportunity to represent SCS.
Muhammad, who started working at SCS in the summer, went to Cairo for a week to see his brother who is studying the Arabic language there.
He said: “I went out for a week to visit him as well as sightseeing as I have never been to Egypt before.
On location at Pyramids
“I travelled there myself but met with my brother and his flat mates and stayed in their flat. Before I left I thought of taking a photo of the SCS logo with the Pyramids as I thought it would be a great place to represent SCS.”
While in Egypt, Muhammad visited a number of locations, including a shopping mall – the Cairo Festival – which had restaurants as well as desert lounges.
He recounted his visit to the Citadel, a huge castle used to defend the city, with history dating back around 1,000 years and said it was very impressive structurally and strategically.
One of Seven Wonders
Muhammad then went to the Pyramids in Giza. This had the Great Pyramid of Giza – one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – as well as two smaller Pyramids and the Sphynx.
It was here that he donned his SCS hi-vis vest and posed for a brilliant picture in front of the Pyramids.
While there he also went quad biking in the open desert over high dunes, reaching speeds of more than 50mph.
He added: “I also visited some of the old mosques in Cairo, which again dated back around 1,000 years. The rest of my time in Egypt was just relaxing and eating out at different places.”
