SCS Group Managing Director Allan Meek has embarked on an important new role – as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Cardiff University’s Business School.

Allan, who started SCS Group 25 years ago this month, will be one of six Entrepreneurs in Residence, supporting and embedding entrepreneurial and innovative thinking within the School. The Entrepreneurs in Residence were selected from a competitive application process to “help enhance the School’s capacity to support entrepreneurial and innovative thinking”.

He was nominated by Professor Andrew Henley, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics, Director of Research Engagement and Impact.

Allan said: “I’m particularly interested in psychology and employee engagement and hope to get involved in research in these areas should the opportunity arise.”

At SCS Group Allan is mainly responsible for the strategy of the business, while also playing a major part in new product and market development. He enjoys starting new ventures and knows the importance of cultivating healthy business relationships with clients. He is always eager to meet up with customers to discuss any issues and improve the way SCS Group works.

Allan is an avid traveller and regularly takes part in triathlons. Ever the adventurer, he also climbed to the summit of Mount Everest earlier this year after months of hard work and training.

Official welcome

The Entrepreneurs in Residence will be welcomed to the school today, Tuesday, December 5.

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean and Head of School, said on the Cardiff University website: “Many of the successful candidates already have existing relationships with our faculty where they contribute to our outstanding teaching provision. So this formal arrangement is a marker for how we want these relationships to develop.

“I’m very much looking forward to welcoming our inaugural entrepreneurs in residence to the School on December 5, 2017.”
