SCS Group honoured staff who have worked at the company for 20, 15 and 10 years at a special Long Service Awards Ceremony held on the weekend.
The event, held at Bristol Zoo’s Pavilion venue on Sunday (September 3), was attended by around 60 people, including staff members’ family and friends.

Ten members of staff were honoured at the event and were given specially designed lapel pins in Gold for 20 years’ service, Silver for 15 years’ service and Bronze for 10 years’ service. Managing Director Allan Meek was one of those to receive a Gold lapel pin but has actually worked at SCS Group for nearly 25 years, having started the company back in December 1992!
Staff will also receive an extra day of annual leave for ten years’ service and a second extra day of annual leave for 20 years’ service.
The staff who received awards were: Allan Meek, Managing Director – 25 years; Chris Connolly, Contracts Manager – 20 years; Macarena Machado, Operations Manager – 15 years; Christopher Jones, Projects Director – 15 years; Ben Meek, Design Manager – 10 years; Simon Inwood, Director 10 years; Mike Parkhurst, Engineering Manager – 10 years; Malcolm Bush, Production Manager – 10 years; and Matthew Thompson, Pre-Construction Manager – 10 years.
There was also a special Outstanding Contribution and Dedication Award for Margaret Meek who worked at SCS Group for more than 20 years in the finance department, before retiring last year. Margaret received a specially engraved crystal vase.
Macarena Machado, Operations Manager, who helped to come up with the idea for the Long Service Awards, said: “As a company we wanted to recognise the loyalty and commitment of our longer serving employees. It was fantastic to have staff families there to enjoy celebrating such a great achievement.”
As part of the event staff enjoyed lunch prepared by the venue’s chef, before exploring the zoo.
