Project Manager Curtis Rees has worked for the SCS Group for more than five years, having started as an apprentice back in January 2011.

His path to SCS Group saw him working at the Department of Work and Pensions and also at an Asda store. However, after hearing about apprenticeships at SCS Group he decided to apply.

Beginning an apprenticeship

Curtis was really interested in what SCS had to offer and realised that an apprenticeship with the company was a great way to get started in the construction industry. When he began at SCS Group he was a Trainee Project Engineer, based at our Cardiff office. He ably assisted Project Engineers and Project Managers with their projects and received support and guidance along the way. His role also saw him printing drawings and filing information on the server and in project folders.

As part of the apprenticeship he undertook a BTEC L3 in Electrical Engineering at Coleg Morgannwg, Nantgarw (September 2011 to June 2014). He has recently completed a HNC in Building Services Engineering at Bath College which he began in September 2014.

Valued member of the team

Curtis is a valued member of the SCS team and plays a major role in many of our projects. He spends time in both the Cardiff and London offices and visits sites on a regular basis.

Curtis said: “My favourite part of my job is being consistently challenged to come up with solutions to problems due to each project being unique. I find I work best when working in a team and I enjoy learning from the more experienced members of the team.”
