SCS Group is thrilled to have been included in the Building Good Employer Guide once again, its sixth year being featured by the Guide.
The Good Employer Guide 2018 has taken on a new format this year, asking companies to explain their full range of benefits as in previous years, but also asking firms “to enter themselves into one of five awards categories – declaring whether they believed they were doing something special to support training; wellbeing; connection and communication; flexible working and parental policies; or recruitment, outreach and inclusion”.
SCS Group, which was included in the previous Guides in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017, was entered in the recruitment category for 2018’s Guide. The Building Good Employer Guide reports: “SCS says increasing diversity of intake has been a key focus. It has looked at how to make its practices more inclusive by delivering training on unconscious bias and ways to ensure fair and equitable recruitment. It has also worked on attracting underrepresented groups, especially in its apprentice schemes, upskilling young people while they are in role.”
Chloё McCulloch, Acting Editor at Building, said: “We have taken a fresh approach in this year’s Good Employer Guide, deliberately focusing on specific workplace initiatives designed to improve staff’s daily lives and, by extension, business performance.
“Of course, the companies that have made it into the Guide have had to prove themselves to be all-round good employers, offering a range of benefits and showing a willingness to go the extra mile for their people.
“But over and above offering generous employee packages, we wanted this year’s entries to provide evidence of well thought-out and innovative programmes that have helped change the way people foster positive places to work.”
Macarena Machado, Operations Manager at SCS Group, said: “We are thrilled to have been included in the Building Good Employer Guide for a sixth year. We have spent a great amount of time trying to recruit people from underrepresented groups, for example we have worked on attracting women into the construction industry and have targeted minority groups.”
