Michael began his career by enrolling on a YTS apprenticeship scheme when he was 16, after finishing school. He was an Apprentice Service Engineer at Johnson Engineering, which serviced lathes and mechanical saws. After that he worked for an electronics company, Davidson Electronics, as a Maintenance Engineer, servicing and repairing emergency lighting systems.
He said: “This led me to BLE where I started as a draughtsman designing products and designing the schemes for emergency lighting and fire alarm systems. I then moved into sales and finished up as a sales manager in the smoke and fire curtain division.”
Michael is now Product Manager for Easivent, the supply-only division of SCS Group.
He said: “I am responsible for the sale of the Simon RWA brand of controls and actuators and the in-house manufactured products from the Bournemouth factory.”
Michael describes his favourite part of his job as being introducing and promoting new products to the market.
Outside work, Michael is involved with junior football coaching. He explained: “This year I’m coaching the Under 14’s and the five to six-year-old development squad. I’ve had the Under 14s since they were seven and will take them through to Under 18s.”
Away from football coaching Michael also enjoys music and plays in a band.
